Light embodied—neither sun nor moon.
A light embodied, not sun nor moon
Yet he is human; no human is like him.
But a human, peerless among men

Were he, like the sun, freely available to his beholder,
Had he shone like the sun, eyes would feast
the gaze would [unclear verb] him at the sand ridge, for the eyes.
Dazzled, not a glance his way they'd send

For his gleam there is a gaze that never ceases to seek it,
My eyes still seek him though gone from sight
from me; and if it does not return, my sight will not return.
If he returns not, vision they'll rescind

From the eye he has a beauty unlike
His beauty no eye has glimpsed before
anything; and from him the eye has tears and sleeplessness.
To eyes he brings tears and sleepless nights
