عزمَ السرورُ على المقا
مِcompletion of 'residence' بسرِّin Surr (place-name element) منman ('who'; place-name element) راra ('saw'; place-name element) للإمامِfor the Imam
مِ بسرِّ من را للإمامِ
Joy resolved to take up residence
Joy has resolved to settle in the land
In Surr-man-ra, for the Imam,
With the secret of the one who guides to the imam
بلدِland المَسرَّةِgladness والفُتوand victories (word begins here)
بلدِ المَسرَّةِ والفُتو
حِcompletion of 'victories' المُستَنيراتِradiant العظامِmighty
حِ المُستَنيراتِ العظامِ
A land of gladness and victories,
The country of joy and glorious openings
Radiant and mighty.
Of enlightened greatness
وتَراهُand you see it أشبهَmost akin مَنزلٍdwelling
وتَراهُ أشبهَ مَنزلٍ
فيon الأرضِthe earth بالبلدِto the city الحرامِsacred
في الأرضِ بالبلدِ الحرامِ
And you see it as the dwelling most akin
You see it is like a house
On earth to the Sacred City.
In the land most sacred
فاللَهso God يعمرهُmakes it flourish بمنwith the one who
فاللَه يعمرهُ بمن
أضحىhas become بهthrough him عزُّglory الأنامِmankind
أضحى به عزُّ الأنامِ
So may God make it flourish with the one
So may God populate it with those
Through whom mankind has attained glory.
