Live safely and do not spend the night distressed,

سكنت في جوارحي حَسراتٌ

جرَّحتها فكلُّها بكَ تدمى

Sorrows have settled in my limbs;

Longings have settled in my limbs,

They have wounded them, so all bleed because of you.

كن رَحيما فقد ملكتَ سقيماً

Be merciful, for you hold an ailing man in your power.

Be kind, for you have possessed a sick man,

Do not worsen his sickness through your long abandonment.

Do not add to his illness with prolonged estrangement.
