كيفَhow أسلوfind solace وفيand in الفؤادِthe heart غليلُburning thirst
أينَwhere لاno أينَwhere لوif only إليهِto him سبيلُa way
How can I find solace, with burning thirst in my heart?
How can I find peace when anguish fills my heart
Where? No—where? If only there were a way to him!
Where, oh where can I find relief
بينbetween ثوبيmy two robes شاهدٌa witness فيin هواهُlove for him
دنفُlanguor الطرفِthe gaze إيyes وجسمٌand a body نحيلُwasted
Between my two robes is a witness to my love for him:
My robe bears witness to the one I love
A languishing gaze—yes—and a wasted body.
My sideways glance reveals a frail body
بدنيmy body كمhow much يذوبُmelts away كمhow long طالَhas lasted هذاthis
نفِدتran out عَبرتيmy tears وملَّand grew weary العذولُthe reproacher
My body—how it melts away! How long this has lasted!
How my body wastes away, how long has this lasted
My tears have run dry, and the reproacher has grown weary.
My tears are spent, and despair has taken hold
أينَwhere ليfor me راحةٌrest وليسَand there is no عزاءconsolation
زالَhas gone صَبريmy patience وزَفرتيand my sigh لاnot تَزولcease
Where is rest for me, when there is no consolation?
Where can I find rest, where is consolation
My patience is gone, and my sigh does not cease.
My patience is gone, my sighs know no end
