Two lovers line their eyes with sleeplessness,

worn down by wariness of the watchers.

So you see them, whenever they meet,

whispering to each other in the tongues of glances.

One inmost heart complains to the other, just as

the heart laments the eye’s hostility.

The reproachers never ceased blaming them

save when their union was in peril.
