O ultimate object of entreaty and hope,

You have given me over to sickness and ailments.

O moon to whom hearts have bowed,

Shining in a lush ben-tree bough.

I complain to God of your ill-treatment of me,

And of the long, unbroken yearning in my heart.

Have pity on a lover, enslaved by love and wasting away,

Who has grown weary of prolonged reproach and blame.
