كنتُ أهلاً لذالِكا
And you grew weary of me, though
I did not deserve that.
أكثرَincreased الطولُthe long duration وَحدتيmy loneliness
أكثرَ الطولُ وَحدتي
إذwhile أناI فيin وَلائِكاdevotion to you
إذ أنا في وَلائِكا
The long passage of time deepened my loneliness,
while I remained devoted to you.
بأبِيwith my father as ransom أنتَyou ماnot ترىyou see
بأبِي أنتَ ما ترى
ذلَّتيmy abasement فيin سُؤالِكاpleading with you
ذلَّتي في سُؤالِكا
May my father be your ransom! Do you not see
my abasement in pleading with you?
كيفَhow عيشيmy life ولمand have not أنلI attain
كيفَ عيشي ولم أنل
أمليmy hope منof وصالِكاunion with you
أملي من وصالِكا
How can I live, when I have not attained
my hope of union with you?
