And I did not complain until my heart melted in my breast,

And I had no tear left to flow from my eye,

And until, after my tears, I watered my cheek

With a cloud of blood from all I wept upon my breast.

My eye and soul would ransom him whose nearness is my life,

In every state, in union and in estrangement.

And had I not suffered what befell me through parting from him

And my longing for him, I would not have reproached my fate.
