Look at me and tell your eye what you see,

so perhaps your eye may be merciful.

And by a sigh for him, whose like is in my body,

I have never ceased to be ill from gazing at him.

O peerless one in beauty, glorying in a form

that, through its splendor, has added bliss to bliss!

How fair a face! Nothing befits its beauty—

if it so wishes—but to be merciful.
