لم أقل ذا لأنني أهواكا

أُشهِدُ اللَهَ أنتَ أهلٌ لِذاكا

I did not say this because I love you;

I call God to witness: you are worthy of that.

I swear to God you deserve this

يا نقي الجمال من دنسِ الشب

with which no king but you has won them.

No other king has won them with but you

أيّ شَيءٍ رأيتهُ لم تُصبهُ

أيّ شَيءٍ رأيتهُ لم تُصبهُ

بسهامٍ مُصببةٍ عَيناكا

بسهامٍ مُصببةٍ عَيناكا

What have you seen that has not been struck

Whatever thing I saw you did not hit

by your two eyes with well-aimed arrows?

With arrows dripping from your eyes
