By God, O prolonged suffering, enough!
Had you a heart, your heart would pity me.

إن كنتَ مأموناً فما ذنبُك
You bear no blame in this love;
If you are trustworthy, what fault is yours?

فيin دَنفٍa lovesick man أنحلَهُhas wasted him away حبُّكlove for you
في دَنفٍ أنحلَهُ حبُّك
O languid-eyed one, what is there
In a lovesick man whom love for you has wasted away?

May God grant him safety; may favor rest upon him,
And may your reproach cure him of sickness.
