At your call—from one who has chosen a beloved.

As for loving you, it has been my death.

I am alone with your gaze, that it may make me drink

the cup of death, brimful and unmixed.

And I concealed what I endure, hoping for recompense,

bearing it, I show no anguish.

But sickness and a tear that flowed insisted

on revealing what I had kept secret.
