As for my heart, it is his;
My heart, though ill, still dreams -
if only he would soothe it.
Would that it gained what it yearns!

Would that it knew in full
kindness, what he hoped for.
The kindness for which it burns!

All that to which love turns!

Would that, for the love I bore,
for my love by killing it.
It returned love, not scorn.
