Who has raised you! - while I live faithful.
أماis there not? ليَfor me منfrom عَبرتيmy tear شاهدٌa witness
أما ليَ من عَبرتي شاهدٌ
يريكَshows you بلىyes, indeed بدناًa body ناحلاemaciated
يريكَ بلى بدناً ناحلا
Have I not in my tears a witness
Do I not have witnesses of my passion
that shows you—yes—a wasted body,
Who show you truly a wasted body?
ومنand from حَسرةٍa grief تركتhas left لِلحشاfor the heart
ومن حَسرةٍ تركت لِلحشا
بزَفرَتِهاthrough its sigh شُغلاًa preoccupation شاغِلاall-consuming
بزَفرَتِها شُغلاً شاغِلا
and in a grief that has left within my breast
And from sorrow for you I have left
an all-consuming care through its sigh?
The thorn-bushes occupied with my sighs.
أتجهلُdo you not know? ماwhat بيwithin me ولكنَّنيbut I
أتجهلُ ما بي ولكنَّني
أظنُّI think صدودَكَyour turning away ليto me قاتِلاfatal
أظنُّ صدودَكَ لي قاتِلا
Do you not know what ails me? Yet I
Do you not know my state? Yet I think
think your turning away is fatal to me.
Your repulses of me are deadly.
