O you who lead the heart toward patience,

It once had a reserve of treasure.

It was at rest, but passion forbade it rest,

And the reign of estrangement snatched it away.

What comfort has the heart in a dripping stream,

Flowing with blood from the corners of the eyes?

Perhaps it will quench what lies within:

Burning pains that have constricted my breast.
