تنَفَّسَتbreathed فيin لَيلِهاits night الباردِcold
تنَفَّسَت في لَيلِها الباردِ
As if I had embraced a sprig of sweet basil
It is as though I embraced a sprig of basil
who breathed in her cold night.
That breathed in its cold night.
فلوso if تَراناyou saw us فيin قَميصِthe shirt of الدُّجىthe darkness
فلو تَرانا في قَميصِ الدُّجى
حَسبتَناyou would think us فيin جَسَدٍa body واحدِsingle
حَسبتَنا في جَسَدٍ واحدِ
Were you to see us in darkness’s shirt,
So if you saw us in the shirt of darkness,
you would think us to be within a single body.
You would think us in a single body.
