أماhas ... not? آنَthe time has come للهجرانِfor estrangement أنto يُعقِبَgive way to الوَصلاreunion
أما آنَ للهجرانِ أن يُعقِبَ الوَصلا
وللحبِّand for love أنto يُمشىcarry out حكومَتهits rule عَدلاjustly
وللحبِّ أن يُمشى حكومَته عَدلا
Is it not time for estrangement to give way to union,
Is it not time for estrangement to give way to reunion,
and for love’s rule to be conducted with justice?
And for love to exercise its rule justly?
لقَدindeed طالَhas lasted long جَورُthe injustice الحبِّof love فيin الحكمِjudgment واعتدَىand it transgressed
لقَد طالَ جَورُ الحبِّ في الحكمِ واعتدَى
عَلىagainst أَهلهِits own people حتَّىuntil أبادَهمُit annihilated them قَتلاby killing
عَلى أَهلهِ حتَّى أبادَهمُ قَتلا
Long has love’s tyranny endured in its rule and transgressed
Long indeed has love's injustice in judgment endured, and it has transgressed
against its own people, until it utterly destroyed them.
Against its own people until it slaughtered them all.
