مَنone who لاnot يَرىsees مَنthe one who عِزُّهُhis glory ذُلِّيmy abasement
مَن لا يَرى مَن عِزُّهُ ذُلِّي
He has made all beauty beneath the curtains languish.
All beauty, in its entirety, has made lovesick
Among what he counts as his glory is my abasement.
One who does not see him whose glory is my abasement.

ليهنه أنَّ قَتيلاً لهُ
إنif كانَit was منfrom قبليmy side ففيthen in حِلِّabsolution
إن كانَ من قبلي ففي حِلِّ
May it delight him that I am one he has slain,
May it gladden him that one is slain for him;
if he is absolved of blame for killing me.
If it is on my account, he is absolved.

A sunrise of beauty that has no sunset,
A sunrise of beauty that has no sunset,
within a lush, rain-drenched bough.
In a lush, moist bough.

His light pointed to the morning sun,
His light pointed to the midmorning sun,
and the sun pointed to the shaded canopies.
And the sun pointed to the shade.
