Who will defend me against the coquetry of a tyrant

who at times wrongs the ruler?

Dark-eyed, like the full moon when he appears,

he sways like a supple bough.

O you who dispense enchantment with your eyelids,

woe to me from what is dispensed and its dispenser!

O temptation, wondrously fashioned by its Lord

as faith and worldly life for the children of Adam!
