هاجرٌforsaking منfrom غيرِwithout ذنبِfault
عاتِبٌreproachful فيin غيرِwithout عتبِreproach
A deserter, though I bear no fault,
You forsake me without any fault of mine,
Reproachful where no blame is due.
And reproach me without cause for reproach.
كيفhow ليfor me منكَfrom you بقلبٍwith a heart
مستهامٍlove-stricken مثلlike قلبيmy heart
How can I have from you a heart
How can I find in you a heart
As passionately enthralled as mine?
As love-stricken as my own?
بأبيmy father be your ransom لاno بدalternative ليfor me منto
كَyou وإنand even if ساءَكَdispleases you قربيmy nearness
My father be your ransom—I cannot do without
My father be your ransom—I cannot do without
You, though my nearness displeases you.
You, even if my nearness displeases you.
أناI أشكوكَI complain of you إلىto حُبِlove
بيكَfor you ياO سؤليmy desire وحسبيand all I need
I complain of you to my love
I complain of you to my love
For you—O my desire and all I need.
For you, O my desire and all I need.
