أينَ صبري وكيفَ يسلو الجَزوع
Do you think I have forgotten? I cannot.
Do I seem relaxed, though I cannot endure?
Where is my patience, and how can the distraught forget—
Where is my patience, how can the sturdy bend?

One over whom, from remembrance and longing,
Whose memory still weighs on heart and mind -
Stands a watcher whom his ribs enfold?
A guardian whose absence the ribs resent.

Know long sleeplessness and tears
Long has his pillow been drenched by my sorrows.

That paragon of beauty in life's spring -
For whom a wondrous love dwells in the heart?
His love remains in my heart, forever alive.
