He whom beauty has made king over my heart
The beauty reigns in my heart
forsakes me unjustly, though I have done no wrong.
He unjustly abandons me though I'm not to blame
يغضبhe grows angry منat حبيmy love لهfor him والذيand what
يغضب من حبي له والذي
يخفىis hidden عليهfrom him أكثرmost of الحبthe love
يخفى عليه أكثر الحب
He is angered by my love for him, and what
He gets angry at my love for him, yet he
is hidden from him is most of that love.
Does not know the depth of my love
إنif كانhe is منbecause of وجديmy passion بهfor him عاتباًreproachful
إن كان من وجدي به عاتباً
فزادنيthen may He grant me more اللهGod منof العتبreproach
فزادني الله من العتب
If he reproaches me for my passion for him,
If he blames me for my love for him
then may God grant me still more reproach.
May God increase this blame upon me
يقولُhe says حسبيenough for me منكَof you لكننيbut I
يقولُ حسبي منكَ لكنني
أقولُI say حسبيenough for me أنتَyou ياO حسبيall I need
أقولُ حسبي أنتَ يا حسبي
He says, "I've had enough of you," but I
He says, "I've had enough of you," but I say,
say, "You are all I need, O all I need!"
"You are enough for me, O my hope!"
