كمhow much تحملتُI have endured والهوىand love ليسis not يخفىhidden
أناI أطفاam extinguished وزفرتيand my sigh ليسَis not تطفاextinguished
How much I have endured—and love is not hidden!
How much I suffered, and my love is no secret,
I am extinguished, yet my sigh is not extinguished.
I am gentle, yet my sighs are no gentle breeze.
كمhow often ترىyou see مُقلتيmy eye تفيضُoverflows دُموعاًtears
وحقيقٌand deserving بالوجدِof love's anguish منwhoever كانwas يُجفىspurned
How often you see my eye overflowing with tears!
How many tears do you see streaming from my eyelids?
And whoever is spurned has good cause for love's anguish.
It is right that one who is spurned should grieve.
ياO قضيباًa bough ريانَlush يهتزُّsways نصفاًas a half
وكثيباًand a sand dune يحادِثُconverses with الخصرَthe waist نِصفاas a half
O you whose one half is a lush, swaying bough,
O rod, dripping and swaying in two halves,
And whose other half is a sand dune conversing with the waist.
And thigh conversing with waist in two halves.
ضاقَran short ذرعيmy endurance بطولat the length of صَدكَyour turning away عنيfrom me
أسألI ask اللهGod منكَfrom you ليناًgentleness وعطفاand affection
My patience is exhausted by your long turning away from me.
I've had enough of your long aloofness,
I ask God for gentleness and affection from you.
I ask God for your softness and sympathy.
