سلوتُI ceased to pine وفيand in قلبيmy heart علىdespite الهجرِestrangement خطرةًa fleeting impulse
منof الوَجدِlonging لمdid not يدخُلenter مداخلهاits entryways الصبرُpatience
I have ceased to pine, yet in my heart, despite estrangement, lingers a stirring
The grief overwhelms while in my heart from separation is tremendous anguish
Of longing, whose recesses patience has not entered.
Of longing has not entered its approaches, patience
أصدُّI turn away فيدعونيbut it calls me فلطَّفتُso I softened my approach راجِعاًreturning
إليهاto her علىdespite نأيٍdistance فَيمنَعُنيso it holds me back الهجرُestrangement
I turn away, but it calls me, so I gently make my way back
I resist so they call me, so I returned gently
To her, despite the distance, but estrangement holds me back.
To it from afar, so separation prevents me
فأصبحتُso I became لاnot أدريI know لأيتةِtoward which وجهةٍdirection
أسيرُI go ولاnor فيin أيِّwhich حالٍcircumstance لهfor it عذرُan excuse
So now I do not know in which direction
Thus I became not knowing to which direction
I should go, nor under what circumstances it can be excused.
I walk, nor in what state for it is an excuse
ولماand when رأيتُI saw الدهرَTime يَهوىdesires فِراقناour parting

And when I saw that Time desired our parting
And when I saw time desires our separation
And envied us, we yielded to what Time saw fit.
And envies us, we came to what time sees
