قَدmay تطلعُrise الشمسُthe sun كماjust as تطلعُit rises
ونورُهُand his light منthan نُورِهاits light أنصَعُbrighter
The sun may rise as it does,
The sun may rise as it rises
And his light is brighter than its light.
And its light is more splendid
فيin وجههِhis face أضعافmany times أضوائِهاits rays
فهوso he إذاwhen ماemphatic particle اجتمعاthe two meet أجمَعُmore complete
His face holds many times its radiance;
In his face are manifold its lights
So when the two meet, his radiance is fuller.
So when joined they are most luminous
لاno شيءَthing فيamong الناسpeople إذاwhen حصلواthey are considered
منthan وجههِhis face أبهىmore splendid ولاand not أبدَعُmore wondrous
Nothing among people, when all are considered,
There is nothing among people if they gain
Is more splendid or more wondrous than his face.
From his face more glorious or magnificent
فإنso if يَكنbe ملّكهgave him possession of طرفهُhis eye
بلحظهِwith his glance قلبيmy heart فماso what أصنَعُcan I do
So if his eye has won him
If his glance captures my heart
My heart with its glance, what can I do?
With a glance, what can I do?
