لاnot جُفونيmy eyelids تَحذرfear الدمthe tears (first part)
لا جُفوني تَحذر الدم
عَcompletion of 'tears' ولاand no قلبٌheart رحيمُmerciful
عَ ولا قلبٌ رحيمُ
My eyelids do not fear tears,
My eyes no longer fear bloodshed
nor is any heart merciful.
Nor does my tender heart
نفدَran out الدمعُthe tears ولاand neither الصَّبpatience (first part)
نفدَ الدمعُ ولا الصَّب
رُcompletion of 'patience' أوor الوجدُlonging مقيمُremaining
رُ أو الوجدُ مقيمُ
The tears are spent; neither patience
Tears are exhausted, as is patience
nor longing remains.
And torment dwells within
أيُّهاO you المالكُthe master إلاexcept
أيُّها المالكُ إلا
أنَّهُthat he عاتٍinsolent ظلومُvery unjust
أنَّهُ عاتٍ ظلومُ
O master—except
O Angel of Death, so cruel and unjust
that he is insolent and grievously unjust.
You forbid what is sacred
أحرامٌis it forbidden? وَصلُunion مَنone who يَوfirst part of 'his two days'
أحرامٌ وَصلُ مَن يَو
ماهُcompletion of 'his two days' نشورٌresurrection ونعيمُand bliss
ماهُ نشورٌ ونعيمُ
Is union forbidden with one whose two days
One day we will reunite
are resurrection and bliss?
In joyful resurrection and paradise
