ولمن ناحَ أو بكى
I am a close companion to whoever complains,
I am a companion to those who complain
and to whoever wails or weeps.
And to those who lament or weep
كيفَhow صَبريmy patience وليسَand does not ينbegins ينصفني: treats me fairly
كيفَ صَبري وليسَ ين
صِفُنيcompletes ينصفني: treats me fairly مَنthe one who يملكاpossesses
صِفُني مَن يملكا
How can I be patient, when he does not deal—
How can I be patient when there is no one
fairly with me, the one who owns me?
To describe me to those who possess me
بأبيmay my father be ransom مَنthe one who يَؤوبُreturns منthe one whose
بأبي مَن يَؤوبُ من
قلبُهُhis heart هائمٌlost in love بكاwith you
قلبُهُ هائمٌ بكا
May my father ransom the one who returns—the one
By my father, those whose
whose heart is lost in love with you.
Hearts roam distraught with yearning
كَمhow often يلومونَنيthey blame me وقَدand already
كَم يلومونَني وقَد
علِمواthey knew أنَّنيthat I لكاyours
علِموا أنَّني لكا
How often they blame me, though
How much they blame me when
they know that I am yours.
They know I belong completely to you
