O you whose eyelids are kohled with dark-eyed beauty,

Set apart from humankind in beauty,

And a young gazelle whose charms exalt him

Beyond likeness or measure in description:

Do you not fear God in how you treat a lovesick man,

Whom you have kohled with tears and sleeplessness?

He called to you, O you who have enslaved me,

In longing, yet found no relief from gazing.
