They took part alongside the Prophet, marked steeds,
The marked ones witnessed with the Prophet
at Hunayn, their hoof edges bleeding.
At Hunain while gushing blood from all sides

And they witnessed Khalid’s battle, and scraped
And Khalid's battle which she witnessed and related
their hoof tips upon the sacred land.
Its battles over the sacred town
نُعَرِّضُwe expose لِلسُيوفِto swords بِكُلِّat every ثَغرٍfrontier

At every frontier we expose to swords
We expose our cheeks to the swords at every frontier
cheeks never offered up for slaps.
Cheeks not exposed to reproach
وَلَستُand I am not بِخالِعٍone who casts off عَنّيfrom myself ثِيابيmy clothes
إِذاwhen هَرَّgrowl الكَماةُthe armored warriors وَلاand not أُراميI trade arrow-shots
And I am not one to strip off my clothes
And I do not take off my garb from me
when armored warriors growl, nor do I trade arrow-shots.
When the archers flee and do not shoot back
وَلَكِنّيand yet I يَجولُwheels المُهرُthe colt تَحتيbeneath me

But beneath me the colt wheels
But the skilful sword wanders under me
toward the raids, with the keen, cleaving sword.
To raids with the sharp cutting blade
