إِذَاwhenever أَوْمَضَflashes البَرْقُthe lightning مِنْfrom نَحْوِهَاher direction
تَمَثَّلُit appears لِيto me أَنَّهَاthat she تَبْتَسِمُis smiling
Whenever lightning flashes from her direction,
When lightning flashes from her abode,
it seems to me that she is smiling.
I imagine she smiles at me.
وَأَذْكُرُهَاand I remember her فِيin المَحَلِّthe place الجَدِيْبِbarren
فَيُخْصِبُand so it grows fertile مِنْfrom دَمْعِيَmy tears المُنْسَجِمْstreaming
And I remember her in the barren place,
And I remember her in the desolate place,
and it grows fertile from my streaming tears.
So my harmonious tears make it fertile.
