I would ransom one who does not know, out of pride

And coyness, what would please him.

He is absent; love will not let my heart

Find solace without him—may I be his ransom!

Whenever he tells me, 'My pleasure lies in

this,' and I choose it, he wants something else.

So he and I forever seek something

That eludes us, so we do not know what it is.
