How many an envier is outwardly fond of me,
How many enviers whose outward appearance to me is friendly
While rancor clings within his heart.
Yet malice from them sticks in the conscience

His character traits reveal his secret to me,
People inform me of their secret
And seldom does a hypocrite remain concealed.
Rarely does the hypocrite conceal

His heart pounds if he sees me,
They have a heart which, if they see me, falters
And if I am absent, he speaks unjustly.
And if I'm absent, with injustice speaks

He lies, yet is truthful in his suspicions,
They lie, yet in suspicion are truthful
And every racer in an empty field comes first.
And every coward in private is quick
