عرَضْنَ فعرّضْنَ القلوبَ من الهَوَى
لأسْرَعَto something swifter فيin كيِّsearing القُلوبِthe hearts منthan الجَمْرِthe embers
لأسْرَعَ في كيِّ القُلوبِ من الجَمْرِ
They appeared and, through passion, exposed hearts
The hearts offered and offered their hearts to passion
to what sears hearts faster than embers.
It permeates hearts faster than embers
كأنas though الشِّفاهَthe lips اللُّعْسَthe dusky ones منهاof them خواتِمٌsignet rings
كأن الشِّفاهَ اللُّعْسَ منها خواتِمٌ
منof التِّبْرِgold مختومٌsealed بِهنَّwith them علىupon الدُّرْthe pearls
من التِّبْرِ مختومٌ بِهنَّ على الدُّرْ
As though their dusky lips were signet rings
As if the metallurgy of smiles adorning her mouth are
of gold, with which a seal is set upon pearls.
