لِيI have مِنْfrom among سِرِّthe choicest بَنِيthe sons of العَبَّاal-Abbas (first part)
لِي مِنْ سِرِّ بَنِي العَبَّا
سِcompletion of al-Abbas خِلٌّa close friend وَرَئِيْسُand a chief
سِ خِلٌّ وَرَئِيْسُ
Among the choicest of the sons of al-Abbas, I have
I have from the secrets of the tribe of Al Abbass
a close friend and a chief.
A sincere friend and chief
شَهِدَbore witness المَجْدُglory عَلَيْهِconcerning him
شَهِدَ المَجْدُ عَلَيْهِ
أَنَّهُthat he is عِلْقٌa treasure نَفِيْسُprecious
أَنَّهُ عِلْقٌ نَفِيْسُ
Glory has borne witness concerning him
Glory bore witness of him
that he is a precious treasure.
That he is a precious pearl
يَهَبُhe bestows الأَسْلاَبَspoils والمَاand wealth (first part)
يَهَبُ الأَسْلاَبَ والمَا
لُcompletion of wealth عَلَىfor الشُّكْرِgratitude حَبِيْسُheld in pledge
لُ عَلَى الشُّكْرِ حَبِيْسُ
He bestows spoils, and wealth
He gives away possessions and money
is held in pledge for gratitude.
Imprisoned by gratitude
وَإِذَاand when جَالَسْتُهُI sit with him لَمْnot
وَإِذَا جَالَسْتُهُ لَمْ
يُدْرَis known مَنْwho مِنَّاamong us الجَلِيْسُthe companion
يُدْرَ مَنْ مِنَّا الجَلِيْسُ
And when I sit with him, it is not
And when I sat with him, it was not known
known which of us is the companion.
