May God protect you from your ailment,

    and grant you recovery.

    We went out hunting yesterday,

and we were skilled at it.

So we invoked God's name and sent them forth,

letting them loose, trusting in your good fortune.

    Then God bestowed sustenance generously,

and God has always been a bountiful provider.

And we caught such a haul of francolins

that the saddle could scarcely hold them.

So I fed others and sent gifts

    to the kitchen in loads.

And the finest meat is that which

the hunting predator has thoroughly harried.

    إِذَا أَبْصَرَهُ تَاقَا

    And one accustomed to game

    yearns for it when he sees it;

thus it nourishes him with what

    he has always longed for.

So eat of it—may God heal you—

    roasted and made into broth.

For this is what preserves health,

    not Ishaq's regimen.
