قُلْsay لِمَنْto whoever نَامَslept خَلِيَّاًfree; untroubled
مِنْfrom عَذَابِthe torment of المُسْتَهَامِthe love-stricken one
Say to him who slept free
Tell those who sleep alone,
from the torment of the love-stricken one,
Free from torment's grasp,
وَلِمَنْand to whoever أَغْرَىinduced دُمُوعَtears
العَيْنِthe eye شَوْقَاًout of longing بِانْسِجَامِto flow
And to him who made the tears
And those whose eyes rain tears
of the eye stream with longing,
In harmonious longing,
وَأَذَابَand melted الجَسَدَthe body المُضْthe worn-
نَى-out بِأَنْوَاعِwith kinds of السَّقَامِillness
And melted the body, worn-
And those whose aching bodies
out by various kinds of illness:
Waste away in sickness,
نَمْsleep وَإِنْand even though كَانَتْwere جُفُونِيmy eyelids
لَمءnot تَذُقْtaste طَعْمَthe taste of المَنَامِsleep
Sleep, even though my eyelids
That though my eyes are wet
have not tasted the savor of sleep.
And know not sleep's taste,
مَاتَmay ... die شَافِيْكَyour healer وَلاَand not زِلْتَyou cease
May your healer die, and may you never cease—
Your healer lives, so hope.
