مَاnot زِلْتُI ceased فِيin سُكْرِيmy drunkenness أُجَمِّشُI playfully fondle كَفَّهَاher palm
وَذِرَاعَهَاand her arm بِالْقُرْصِwith pinching وَالآثَارِand marks
In my drunkenness I kept playfully fondling her palm
I am still drunk, caressing her palms
and her arm with pinches that left their marks,
And her arms with bites and marks
حَتَّىuntil تَرَكْتُI left أَدِيْمَهَاher skin وَكَأَنَّمَاand as though
غُرِسَwere planted البَنَفْسَجُthe violets مِنْهُfrom it فِيin الجُمَّارِthe palm pith
until I left her skin looking as though
Until I left her skin as though
violets had been planted there in palm pith.
Lilacs were planted on it from a jar
