فإِنْso if أُمْسِيI come to be قَدْalready أَنْكَرْتُI have found unfamiliar جِسْمِيmy body وَقُوّتيand my strength
وأدرَكَنيand has overtaken me ماwhat يُدْرِكُovertakes المَرْءَa man فيin العُمْرِone's lifetime
So if I have come to find my body and my strength unfamiliar,
If I have lost my strength and vigor
and what overtakes a man with age has overtaken me,
And old age has overtaken me
فلاthen no ضَيْرَharm إِنِif اللهَGod أَعْطَىhas given وَنَالَنيand granted me
مواقِفَstations تُرجَىto be hoped for غَيْرَwithout مَنٍّvaunting favors ولاnor فخرِboasting
then there is no harm, if God has given and granted me
I have no regrets, for God has granted
stations to be hoped for—without vaunting favors or boasting.
Me noble moments beyond pride or conceit

They turned to Him, and were not led astray by what befell them
They repented and were not tempted
of broken pledges therein and affliction—nay, bereavement.
By treachery, affliction, or discord

So they gave freely of their souls' life-essence, and did not deem
They sacrificed the passions of their souls
this world, for them, the equal of time's final outcome.
And did not consider this life the fate of ages

And they undertook nothing without their Messenger,
They did not take other than their Prophet
since they supported him—neither going forth nor returning.
