لقدindeed عَجِبْتُI have marveled لِقَوْمٍat a people أَسْلَمُواthey abandoned بَعْدَafter عزّهِمtheir honor
لقد عَجِبْتُ لِقَوْمٍ أَسْلَمُوا بَعْدَ عزّهِم
أمَامَهمُtheir leader (reading إمامهم) للمُنْكراتِto evil deeds وللغدْرِand to treachery
أمَامَهمُ للمُنْكراتِ وللغدْرِ
Indeed, I have marveled at a people who, after enjoying honor, abandoned
I am amazed by people who found Islam after their glory
Their leader to evil deeds and treachery.
Yet they stand indifferent before wrongdoings and betrayal
