يا عَيْني فَابكي بدَمْعٍ ذَرَى

لِخَيْرِ البَريَّةِ والمُصْطَفَى

لِخَيْرِ البَريَّةِ والمُصْطَفَى

O my eye, weep streaming tears

O my eye, weep with flowing tears

for the best of creation, the Chosen One.

وبَكِّي الرَّسُولَ وحُقَّ البكاءُ

وبَكِّي الرَّسُولَ وحُقَّ البكاءُ

عَلَيْهِ لَدَى الحَرْبِ عِنْدَ اللِّقا

عَلَيْهِ لَدَى الحَرْبِ عِنْدَ اللِّقا

Mourn the Messenger—for mourning him is only right—

And weep for the Messenger—well deserved is mourning

when war rages, at the moment of encounter;

for him, amid war, when battle is joined.

على خَيْرِ مَنْ حَمَلَتْ نَاقَةٌ

على خَيْرِ مَنْ حَمَلَتْ نَاقَةٌ

وأَتْقَى البَرِيَّةِ عِنْدَ التُّقَى

وأَتْقَى البَرِيَّةِ عِنْدَ التُّقَى

for the best man a she-camel ever carried,

For the best whom a she-camel ever carried,

the most God-fearing of creation when piety is the measure;

and, in piety, the most devout of creation.

على سَيٍّدٍ ماجدٍ جَحْفَلٍ

على سَيٍّدٍ ماجدٍ جَحْفَلٍ

وَخَيْرِ الأَنَامِ وخَيْرِ اللُّها

وَخَيْرِ الأَنَامِ وخَيْرِ اللُّها

for a lord—glorious, a mighty chief—

For a lord, noble and mighty,

the best of humankind and the finest of gifts.

لَهُ حَسَبٌ فوقَ كُلِّ الأَنا

لَهُ حَسَبٌ فوقَ كُلِّ الأَنا

مِ مِنْ هاشمٍ ذلِكَ المُرْتَجَى

مِ مِنْ هاشمٍ ذلِكَ المُرْتَجَى

His noble lineage stands above all human—

نُخْصُّ بما كَانَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ

Through his bounty we were especially favored;

We are favored with what came of his bounty,

he was a lamp for us in the darkness,

and he was a lamp for us in the darkness.

وكانَ بَشِيراً لَنَا مُنْذِراً

وكانَ بَشِيراً لَنَا مُنْذِراً

وَنُوراً لَنَا ضَوْؤُهُ قَدْ أَضَا

وَنُوراً لَنَا ضَوْؤُهُ قَدْ أَضَا

a bearer of glad tidings for us, and a warner,

And he was a bearer of glad tidings for us, a warner,

and a light for us, whose radiance shone.

فأنْقَذَنا اللهُ في نُورِهِ

فأنْقَذَنا اللهُ في نُورِهِ

وَنَجَّى بِرَحْمَتِهِ مِنْ لَظَى

وَنَجَّى بِرَحْمَتِهِ مِنْ لَظَى

Then God delivered us through his light

So God saved us through his light,

and by His mercy saved us from the Blaze.

and through his mercy delivered us from Hellfire.
