أَحْبِبِlove النَّاسَthe people كُلَّهُمْall of them دُونَwithout فَرْقٍdistinction
أَحْبِبِ النَّاسَ كُلَّهُمْ دُونَ فَرْقٍ
وَأَحِبَّand love الَّذِيthe one who يُحِبُّكَloves you أَكْثَرْmore
وَأَحِبَّ الَّذِي يُحِبُّكَ أَكْثَرْ
Love all people without distinction.
Love all people without distinction
And love even more the one who loves you.
And love most he who loves you
إنْif تَزِدْهُyou give him more فَاللهُthen God يَأْمُرُcommands فِيناamong us
إنْ تَزِدْهُ فَاللهُ يَأْمُرُ فِينا
أنْto نَرُدَّwe repay الجَميلَkindness أَوْفَىmore fully وأَكْبَرْand in greater measure
أنْ نَرُدَّ الجَميلَ أَوْفَى وأَكْبَرْ
If you give him more love, then God commands us
If you increase it, God commands us
To return kindness in fuller and greater measure.
To repay kindness most fully and greatly
وَدَعِand leave الكُرْهَhatred لِلَّئيمِto the vile one يُعانِيhe suffers
وَدَعِ الكُرْهَ لِلَّئيمِ يُعانِي
مِنْهُfrom it فِيin لَيْلِهِhis night الطَّويلِlong ويَسْهَرْand stays awake
مِنْهُ فِي لَيْلِهِ الطَّويلِ ويَسْهَرْ
And leave hatred to the vile one, who suffers
And leave hatred to the wretched one
From it through his long night and stays awake.
Who suffers from it in his long night and stays awake
أَخْبِرِtell الآخَرِينَthe others عَنْabout شَهْدِhoney حُبٍّlove
أَخْبِرِ الآخَرِينَ عَنْ شَهْدِ حُبٍّ
لاnot يُدَانِيهِcomes close to it فيin الحَلاوَةِsweetness سُكَّرْsugar
لا يُدَانِيهِ في الحَلاوَةِ سُكَّرْ
Tell others of the honey of love:
Tell others about the honey of love
No sugar can match it in sweetness.
Nothing can match its sweetness, not even sugar
كَيْفhow يَرْتَاحُfinds peace ذُوpossessor of المَحَبَّةِlove فِيمَاin what
كَيْف يَرْتَاحُ ذُو المَحَبَّةِ فِيمَا
كَانَhad أَبْدَىrevealed مِنَof الشُّعُورِfeeling وَأَضْمَرْand concealed
كَانَ أَبْدَى مِنَ الشُّعُورِ وَأَضْمَرْ
How the loving one finds peace in what
How can one who loves find comfort
He has revealed of feeling and what he has concealed.
In what was most evident and concealed
إنْif غَدَاbecomes عَصْرُناour age عَلَىupon الكُرْهِhatred يَعْلُوrises
إنْ غَدَا عَصْرُنا عَلَى الكُرْهِ يَعْلُو
وَمِنَand at الحُبِّlove والمَحَبَّةِand affection يَسْخَرْscoffs ...
وَمِنَ الحُبِّ والمَحَبَّةِ يَسْخَرْ ...
If our age comes to rise upon hatred
If our tomorrow rises above hatred
And scoffs at love and affection...
And mocks love and affection
فَعَلَيْناthen we must أَنْto نَقْلِبَwe turn الكَوْنَthe universe حُبًّاlove
فَعَلَيْنا أَنْ نَقْلِبَ الكَوْنَ حُبًّا
فَهْوfor it is أَنْقَىthe purest ماwhat فيin الوُجودِexistence وأَطْهَرْand the most unsullied
فَهْو أَنْقَى ما في الوُجودِ وأَطْهَرْ
Then we must turn the universe into love,
It is upon us to turn the universe into love
For it is the purest and most unsullied thing in existence.
For it is the purest in existence and most chaste
وعَلَيْناand we must أنto نَجْعَلَwe make الحُبَّlove نَهْجًاa path
وعَلَيْنا أن نَجْعَلَ الحُبَّ نَهْجًا
لِخُطاناfor our steps ....نَمْضِيwe go onward ولاand do not نَتَعَثَّرْwe stumble ... !
لِخُطانا ....نَمْضِي ولا نَتَعَثَّرْ ... !
And we must make love a path
And it is upon us to make love a path
For our steps—we go onward and do not stumble.
For our steps - we walk and do not stumble
