إنَّindeed فَوْقَabove البُروجِthe towers عَرْشَthrone السَّماءِheaven
إنَّ فَوْقَ البُروجِ عَرْشَ السَّماءِ
اسْقِطوهُbring it down مِنْfrom بَعْدِafter بُرْجِtower الجَلاءِAl-Jalaa
اسْقِطوهُ مِنْ بَعْدِ بُرْجِ الجَلاءِ
Indeed, above the towers is heaven's throne.
Above the constellations lies the Throne of Heaven
Bring it down after Al-Jalaa Tower.
Cast it down beyond the radiant tower
وَاحْرِقواand burn أَوْجُهَfaces المَلائِكِthe angels فيهِin it
وَاحْرِقوا أَوْجُهَ المَلائِكِ فيهِ
بَعْدَafter حَرْقِburning الأَطْفالِthe children والأَبْرِياءِand the innocent
بَعْدَ حَرْقِ الأَطْفالِ والأَبْرِياءِ
And burn the faces of the angels within it,
And burn the faces of the angels within
after burning the children and the innocent.
After burning the children and the innocent
وَامْلَأُواand fill الأَرْضَthe earth والسَّماءَand the sky دَوِيًّاa roar
وَامْلَأُوا الأَرْضَ والسَّماءَ دَوِيًّا
يَمْنَعُprevents اللهَGod مِنْfrom سَماعِhearing الدُّعاءِprayers
يَمْنَعُ اللهَ مِنْ سَماعِ الدُّعاءِ
And fill the earth and sky with a roar
Fill the earth and sky with a resounding din
that prevents God from hearing prayers.
That prevents God from hearing supplication
وَاجْلِسواand sit فيin مَكانِهِHis place وَأَعيدواand retell
وَاجْلِسوا في مَكانِهِ وَأَعيدوا
قِصَّةَstory الخَلْقِcreation مِنْfrom بُروجِtowers العَلاءِthe heights
قِصَّةَ الخَلْقِ مِنْ بُروجِ العَلاءِ
And sit in His place, and retell
Sit in His place and retell
the story of creation from the towers on high.
The story of creation from the towers of splendor
وَارْقُصواand dance فيin سَمائِهِHis heaven كَيْفَhowever شِئْتُمْyou wish
وَارْقُصوا في سَمائِهِ كَيْفَ شِئْتُمْ
فَوْقَover أَجْسادِناour bodies عَلىupon الأَشْلاءِthe severed limbs
فَوْقَ أَجْسادِنا عَلى الأَشْلاءِ
And dance in His heaven however you wish,
Dance in His heavens however you wish
over our bodies, upon the severed limbs.
Above our bodies strewn in pieces
أَنْتُمُyou (plural) شَعْبُهُHis people ، ونَحْنُand we سَنَبْقَىwe shall remain
أَنْتُمُ شَعْبُهُ ، ونَحْنُ سَنَبْقَى
فيon دُروبِpaths الصُّمودِsteadfastness شَعْبَa people الإِباءِproud defiance !
في دُروبِ الصُّمودِ شَعْبَ الإِباءِ !
You are His people, and we shall remain
You are His people, while we shall remain
on the paths of steadfastness, a people of proud defiance!
On the paths of steadfastness, the people of determination!
إِنْif تَكُنْshould be تَسْقُطُfalling البُروجُthe towers عَلَيْناupon us
إِنْ تَكُنْ تَسْقُطُ البُروجُ عَلَيْنا
وتَمُدُّand supply السَّماءَheaven بِالشُّهَداءِwith martyrs ....
وتَمُدُّ السَّماءَ بِالشُّهَداءِ ....
If the towers should fall upon us
If the towers fall upon us
and supply heaven with martyrs...
And the sky rains down with martyrs....
فَلَناthen we have مِنْfrom مَمَاتِناour death يَوْمُa day بَعْثٍresurrection
فَلَنا مِنْ مَمَاتِنا يَوْمُ بَعْثٍ
ولَنَاand we have رَغْبَةٌa desire بِطُولِfor length of بَقاءِsurvival
ولَنَا رَغْبَةٌ بِطُولِ بَقاءِ
then from our death we shall have a day of resurrection,
For us, there is a day of resurrection from our death
and we yearn to live long.
And we have a longing for longevity
ولَنَاand we have مِنْfrom زُنودِناour forearms أَلْفُa thousand بُرْجٍtower
ولَنَا مِنْ زُنودِنا أَلْفُ بُرْجٍ
تَصِلُjoin الأَرْضَthe earth عِزَّةًin dignity بِالسَّماءِto heaven ...
تَصِلُ الأَرْضَ عِزَّةً بِالسَّماءِ ...
And from our forearms we have a thousand towers
And from our arms, a thousand towers
that join earth to heaven in dignity...
Connecting the earth with the sky in dignity...
