جَزاكِmay He repay you اللَهُGod شَرّاًevil مِنas عَجوزٍan old woman
وَلَقّاكِand may He make you face العُقوقَfilial disobedience مِنَfrom البَنينِthe sons
May God repay you with evil, old woman,
May God repay you with evil, you old hag,
and make you face disobedience from your sons.
And may your sons meet with filial impiety.
لَقَدindeed سُوِّستِyou were put in charge of أَمرَthe affairs of بَنيكِyour sons حَتّىuntil
تَرَكتِهِمُyou left them أَدَقَّfiner مِنَthan الطَحينِflour
You were indeed given charge of your sons’ affairs, until
You have poisoned your sons against me
you left them finer than flour.
Until you left them weaker than flour.
لِسانُكِyour tongue مِبرَدٌa file لَمdid not يُبقِleave شَيئاًanything
وَدَرُّكِand your milk دَرُّthe milk of جاذِبَةٍa milk-withholding she-camel دَهينِscant-yielding
Your tongue is a file that has spared nothing,
Your tongue is icy, leaving nothing,
and your milk is that of a dry, scant-yielding she-camel.
And you are a coarse, vile slanderer.
فَإِنso if تُخلَيyou are left alone وَأَمرَكِwith your own affairs لاnot تَصوليyou strike
بِمُشتَدٍّwith one firm قُواهُhis strength وَلاnor مَتينِsturdy
So if left to your own devices, you will not strike
But if you cross me and do not relent,
with anyone firm in strength, nor anyone sturdy.
I will come at you with force, stout and sturdy.
