How can I lampoon you, when a kindness never ceases

to reach me whenever you are mentioned in your absence?

Exalted Mudar endowed them with their glory,

and they secured their glory from age to age.

The spears of the sons of Saʿd protected for their people

the pastures of wild asses, male ostriches, and wide-eyed wild cattle,

with every sleek steed, coursing like a wolf,

and slender mare, like an eagle in dark clouds, galloping onward,

their hosts bearing their water-skins slung behind them,

until they saw them on this side of al-Aẓānīn.
