كَفَتكَ المَرَّةُ الأولى السَلاما
He greeted twice, so I said, “Hold on—
Twice he bid me peace, and twice I said,
the first time was greeting enough for you.”
"Withhold thy greeting; once suffices me;
وَنَقنَقَand gurgled بَطنُهُhis belly وَدَعاand he called upon رُؤاساًRu’as
وَنَقنَقَ بَطنُهُ وَدَعا رُؤاساً
لِماbecause of what قَدalready نالَhe attained مِنof شَبَعٍfullness وَناماand he slept
لِما قَد نالَ مِن شَبَعٍ وَناما
His belly gurgled, and he called upon Ru’as,
His belly rumbled loud for want of bread
because he had eaten his fill—and he fell asleep.
Well stuffed with food and sunk in sleep was he."
