I saw a man pouring out many bucketfuls

of bounty; I asked him for a drink, and he gave me one.

From the band whose spears give ʿAdī pasture,

despite peril, along the flanks of al-Liwā, then Abān.

They stayed there until their dwellings stood firmly established,

with no neck laid to the earth in submission.

Headstrong among the acacias, they pelt with lances,

coming forth like gazelles from the thickets of Qiṭān.
