مِ لَمّا اِلتَقَينا عَطاءً جَزيلا
And Ibn Qurt gave, on the morning of al-Sulaym,
The son of Qurṭ gave generously one morn
when we met, a generous gift.
When we met, with ample gifts -

With it, you provided for all of Mazin,
Enough for all the clan of Māzin,
their youngest, and you provided for the mature men.
Elders and youth alike, and all the nobles.

Noble men, whose fathers shunned blame,
Noble men whose fathers scorned reproach
so they leave no opening for reproach.
And gave no opening to blame,

Broad of cheek, noble in ancestry,
Cheeks ruddy, ancestry renowned -
they reach far toward glory.
Reaching far for glory and renown.
