إِنَّ اليَمامَةَ شَرُّ ساكِنِها

إِنَّ اليَمامَةَ شَرُّ ساكِنِها

أَهلُ القُرَيَّةِ مِن بَني ذُهلِ

أَهلُ القُرَيَّةِ مِن بَني ذُهلِ

Indeed, the worst inhabitants of al-Yamāmah

The dove is the worst of those who dwell there

Are the people of al-Qurayyah, from the Banū Dhuhl.

The people of the village are from the clan of Duhl

قَومٌ أَبادَ اللَهُ غابِرَهُم

قَومٌ أَبادَ اللَهُ غابِرَهُم

فَجَميعُهُم كَالحُمَّرِ الطُحلِ

فَجَميعُهُم كَالحُمَّرِ الطُحلِ

A people—may God annihilate those of them who remain—

A folk whom God destroyed their proud ones

For all of them are like dusky little reddish birds.

So all of them are like red ashes
