تَقولُshe says حَليلَتيmy wife لَمّاwhen اِشتَكَيناwe complained
تَقولُ حَليلَتي لَمّا اِشتَكَينا
سَيُدرِكُناwill reach us بَنوthe sons of القَرمِthe noble sire الهِجانِthe purebred
سَيُدرِكُنا بَنو القَرمِ الهِجانِ
My wife said, when we voiced our woes,
My wife said when we complained,
“The sons of the noble, purebred sire will reach us.”
"The savage Quraysh clan will overtake us."
فَقُلتُso I said اِدعيcall out وَأَدعوand I call out إِنَّindeed أَندىfarther-carrying
فَقُلتُ اِدعي وَأَدعو إِنَّ أَندى
لِصَوتٍfor a voice أَنthat يُنادِيَcall out داعِيانِtwo callers
لِصَوتٍ أَن يُنادِيَ داعِيانِ
So I said, “Call, and I shall call too; for greater reach
So I said, "Pray, and I will pray that the dew
comes to a voice when two callers call.”
Will dampen the sound of two callers.”
