ʿAbs is Dhubyān’s brother; then turned

the sons of ʿAbs toward pebbles and wealth.

For Dhubyān has no advantage over us

in anything except words of error,

save that they were given precedence and favored over us,

as the right hand is favored over the left.

Our attachment to Dhubyān is burdensome

to us, like the heavy burdens of mountains.
